Probably because my grandfather is an artist and my father loves art so much, I've got a strong passion for painting since my childhood.
|
In addition, I widely dabble in all kinds of painting, from sketch, gouache to traditional Chinese painting. I find each of them very interesting.
|
I am also very sensitive to the beauty in daily life. There are always small moments, when I feel life is so wonderful. Then I enjoy drawing them down as well as storingthem in my memory.

The painting on the left is one of my favorite paintings. I drew it just after I came back home from a trip to Europe. It demonstrates the beauty and peace of the countryside of France. How I wish my life would be as beautiful and peaceful as it is.
I enjoy beauty and art in my life, and I am also crazy about computer technology which helps us create a wonderful new world.

My undergraduate major, Digital Media, teaches me the technical skills of computer science and guides me to other level of art, not only drawing the pictures, but drawing to demonstrate a theme or drawing with a sense of design.

The two paintings on the left have the same pattern; however, they show us quite different senses. The first shows us a warm, enthusiastic, energetic feeling while the second is the opposite. It is cold and negative, giving us a sense of distance.

These paintings on the right use the idea of plate painting, which is a traditional art form of China, to show four seasons---spring, summer, autumn and winner.
With the similar pattern, I present you the characteristics of four different seasons. I think this is what the college classes have taught me, using similarities and differences to describe a theme harmoniously with each having its own distinctive features.

Also, thanks to my professors’ guidance, I have grasped how to use computers to complete my work.
These are a series of creation inspired by Chinese Five-element Theory. I used CorelDRAW to create them.

Do you think the jade bracelet below is beautiful? It is made by Photoshop. By using the computer technology, I can create lots of interesting and realistic things which cannot be done by traditional paintings.
The picture on the right is called the impression of Spring City. Spring City is the alias of my home---Jinan City. I used five photos which are all the landmarks of our city to generate this one by Photoshop. In order for the picture to be consistent with the theme of impression, I made it like the old picture with a brown color.

From the traditional paintings, paintings with theme and sense of design, to the 2D computer aided artistic design, I keep exploring new method to combine computer technology with traditional art to create better and novel artworks.
These three below are scenes with textures and light rendering. They all look realistic, right?

I like to use Maya to build 3D models, to render scenes and to animate the characters. It's very interesting.
On the left is a raw scene I built using Maya without any textures. On the right is a human skeleton created by ZBrush. 
Also, we used Maya to build simple models to create wonderful videos.
These two are the original videos. 
Computer technology is so magic that I want to learn more about it. And that is why I choose your reputed program.
